THE LIGHTHOUSE
Situated up on a sandstone cliff the house has a wonderful view of the sea and sky as well as views across to Clontarf as well as Dobroyd Head and Middle Head. The changing scenes on the water as well as the weather patterns change the experience of living in this house, particularly on the living level.
The house is so called because it sits directly opposite Parriwi Lighthouse which is an active heritage listed lighthouse.
The brief from the owners was clear. They wanted a house which was a “Machine for Living in”.
The house is planned so that garden areas become the focus on the bedroom and upper pool area whereas the living level is focussed on the view. At 250m2 the size of the house is relatively modest to the size of the block giving emphasis to the idea of living within a landscape.
