 The client had a vision to build luxury apartments, one per floor and to make them something really special, something for people who want to live in this location in a high quality building. This area of Main Beach is in a prime position on the Gold Coast. Ultimate beachfront sites at Main Beach have been sought after locations to live for many years and it really is an iconic piece of land.

The building has been designed as an elegant modern structure with carefully articulated facades which respond both to the streetscape as well as giving a sense of space and openness from within. The streetscape façade provides both privacy from the street as well as opportunities to view out. The northern façade is designed to allow the sun to penetrate in winter but has a series of timber screens which can be used to create both shade and privacy. Because the apartments are on a whole level each, they have more of the feeling of being a house rather than an apartment.

One important aspect of the design is the use of internal courtyard spaces which allow the air flow to penetrate further into the building. These spaces will be read as deep recesses on the outside of the building which will further add to the drama of light and shade visible from the outside. These spaces will help make the whole place feel lighter, airier and more like a house.
