CITY TERRACE

This Victorian terrace house was given a new lease of life through the use of a narrow external living space around which the rear portion of the house is focused. The house was designed with the client’s extensive art collection in mind and the art pieces become the focal point of the house. In the “slot” deck area a piece by Melbourne artist Robert Owen represents thought forms as they move up the wall. A multi-layered work by artist Janet Lawrence greets you adjacent the entry and a sculpture by Akio Makigawa sits coolly in the living area. A sculpture by Anthony Gormley (of one of the owners) stands gazing into the courtyard. A magnificent office/studio and library awaits on the uppermost level. The house reflects a fascination with the alchemical and the esoteric elements of life.
