BRONTE HOUSE
This major renovation replaces a “Cape Cod” style house which was inappropriate for its location. The new design responds to the northerly aspect and views over Bronte Beach.
A series of hovering platforms nestle into a steep site overlooking Bronte Beach. A slot space links the upper and lower levels. This space allows the heat to escape through a louvred window as well as providing a connection between the two levels of the house. A textured garden by Jane Irwin acts as a foil to the house.
Elements such as privacy screens and security screens have been made into a collage of planes and textures that dance and play with the light.
